I am running out of ideas for ‘presents for him’. Over the years I have used off all creative gift ideas for any man in my life. Pathetic what I handmade for my father! I had a great period at times when I was freshly in love and newly wed. I just came up with the most beautiful presents any time needed. Sometimes I even had more ideas than occasions. Even men’s jewelry I was able to find just perfectly matching for my beloved man. Elegant Shirts, casual yoga dresses, Kurta Pyjama, a new story written for the occasion or a silk painting handcrafted by myself or original folk art from Indian tribes. I was never short on good ideas, but once I got it all, and the passes there is nothing left, that I have not yet gifted. I am worn out and no idea pops up when the next birthday is coming. What a pleasure and satisfaction to buy a present for my boys. I always knew what made them happy. But they are grown up now, no more boys toys, but men’s stuff is needed and there is a big black hole when I need inspiration. We are down to perfume, socks and money. But now I am world champion in wrapping money creatively.
Some time ago I found a wonderful little online shop with a wide range of beautiful gift ideas. I can find a present for everyone near and dear. But what I love most, I finally have a place where I can find the special gift formydad. Shopping for him always was my greatest challenge. He had what he needed; he never wanted anything beyond that. He is not the fancy type who loves new gadgets and enjoys boy’s toys. He knows who he is; he defines himself by wearing decent, timeless clothes and these clothes he wears for ten years till they are worn off. Watching him unwrap his Birthday present and seeing the smile shining on his face was the highest goal to achieve. For so many years this smilewas so difficult to get, I nearly gave up.
Now, with my nightly shopping tour I buy shirts, casual yoga dresses, Cufflinks, men’s jewelry, and wonderful folk art all handmade handicrafts directly from India, at the same shop and it always matches to the present I gave him before. It comes within no time and it is gift wrapped and classy personal handwritten greeting card is also included. People ask me where I got my present from and I never reveal my secret, they might come up with the same present.
My Anniversary is coming soon and this time I want to make it a day to remember – at least for me as my dear hubby, the reason we have this special occasion to celebrate, tends to forget the date. I think there is always the perfect reason for an anniversary gift, and what would be the perfect and unique gift for a woman – jewelry. I know I have spend quite some time to get into the right mood and to find that special present for my man. It is not difficult to find a unique gift for men, especially if you love this guy. Can you imagine, I have given endless hints for the last 4 weeks what I wish to get for my anniversary? Can you imagine, this love of my life is still clueless! Even if I make a wish list with all my gift ideas and incidentally leave it on the table, he doesn’t get it! Does he still love me? Maybe he wants to forget and not be remembered? But I oh yes, now I remember, I have these worries every year and in the past he could actually surprise me quite a bit. But it drives me nuts not to know what will be my surprise and how much thought he has put into this year’s anniversary gift for me.
Do you know the dilemma – you are invited and you need to bring a gift for the occasion. First of all, what would be a gift that everyone would remember, appreciate and love forever? Than where do you get the time to shop for it, it is never in the shop you think it would be, you have to search it. What a time consuming process! I have finally found the solution for my problem. I go shopping at night, at a very interesting shop in India. I always find unique gift ideas and very special presents for all occasions. I buy jewelry for my sister, my husband get his new yoga dress, for my best friend’s wedding anniversary I recently got a wonderful Madhubani painting. My mother was thrilled when she got the insulated copper serving tray that went so well with her china. And I cannot go wrong with a nice brass statue, like the Goddess Saraswati I got for my nephews graduation. The 3-piece dress I bought for Aunty Ruth last year she is now wearing to every party. I saw her even at the church picnic in bright red and yellow block prints and Uncle Karl could not let his eyes off her. There is not a single party gift, no special present, no present idea I can’t get in my little Indian Internet shop. And the best part of all, those gifts come in wonderful gift wrapping and with a handwritten greeting card within 2 or 3 days and no hassle for me at all.
